My very first blog post... so exciting... now if I can just keep it updated I will be doing good.
I hope it doesn't violate any copyright laws, but Jason, my husband, gave me the idea from the Mossy Oak slogan "It's not a passion. It's an obsession". I began writing my first blog post based on a chapter in Crazy Love by Francis Chan that discusses what it truly means to live a life completely obsessed with Jesus. While my husband was reading what I had written, I told him I wanted a blog title that would incorporate my ultimate desire to live an obsessed life with God, our adoption story which is just beginning, and my obsession with hunting (yes... I absolutely love to hunt)... and asked if he had any ideas... so that is where the (not so original) blog name came from.
The reason for the blog title????

So on to my first post:
I was reading Francis Chan's awesome book (http://www.crazylovebook.com/) with my girls group when my husband and I began discussing adoption... (I don't think this was a coincidence). This book planted a desire in me to step outside of my comfort zone to worship and glorify the One who gave me life.
Below are a few quotes in Chan's chapter "Profile of the Obsessed" that made me think about my life:
"People who are obsessed with Jesus live lives that connect them with the poor in some way or another. Obsessed people believe that Jesus talked about money and the poor so often because it was really important to Him."
"Obsessed people are more concerned with obeying God than doing what is expected or fulfilling the status quo. A person who is obsessed with Jesus will do things that don't always make sense in terms of success or wealth on this earth."
"People who are obsessed with Jesus do not consider service a burden. Obsessed people take joy in loving God by loving His people."
"People who are obsessed with God are known as givers, not takers. Obsessed people genuinely think that others matter as much as they do, and they are particularly aware of those who are poor around the world."
"A person who is obsessed is characterized by committed, settled, passionate love for God above and before every other thing and every other being."
I'm sick of living in a safe, monotonous, comfortable world where little faith is required of me. I desire to live a life that will make people question my actions. I don't want my decisions to make sense to others, as long as I feel those decisions are leading me closer to Him and are fulfilling His calling for me. I don't want my life to be safe or easy anymore; I want to have to rely on Jesus and His grace to provide. I am so blessed for the life and skills He has given me, and I never want to lose sight of that in my attempt to seek suffering for Him, I just want to use those things to glorify Him. I am not bold enough yet to pray for suffering, but if it will bring me closer to Him, then that is ultimately what I desire.
So... in my attempt to live a life according to His plan... God has placed it on mine and my husband’s hearts to seek adoption!!! I plan to use my blog to document every detail about our adoption story, and I can only hope and pray that God will use my blog to change the heart of one person who reads our story... to plant in them a seed that will give them the desire to help the widows and orphans.
